![]() ![]() We found the whole experience extremely smooth and painless. I can't quite remember what the fare was to our hotel (Sherwood Residence) but it was probably something like 130K. When we got to our hotel, he explained that we needed to pay that on top of the meter fare (I'm glad I knew that in advance as his English wasn't good) and we gave him a tip too. He put the meter on, switching it from 'hello', (it stayed at the initial price for a while) and paid a 10K Dong fee as we exited the airport. When we got to the front of the queue (no waiting), we just got the first taxi there, which was Vinasun. We walked down the little aisle marked 'taxis', again ignoring people who offered us taxis as we walked. Taxi: The trip to downtown by taxi takes 30 minutes. We ignored all the taxi desks in the terminal and simply walked to where the signs told us taxis would be. Ho Chi Minh Airport counts with the following transportation options within its facilities: Bus: Three bus routes transfer passengers to the city centre very conveniently. We came from Hoi An so were in the domestic terminal, and that has numbered columns (helpful if you are using Grab), but we decided against trying to use Grab, especially as our hotel had recommended Vinasun or Mai Linh taxis. ![]() However, encouraged by various posts, we decided to risk just finding a taxi when we arrived (in the afternoon) and were very glad we did. Having read various reviews online, I was very anxious about getting from the airport to our hotel (not in District 1 but not far from it) especially as we didn't want to pay the inflated prices which pre-ordered cars charge and certainly didn't want to pay a charge in advance. ![]()
